I’m pro-choice, pregnant and moving to a state with an abortion ban
Synopsis
Danielle Campoamor moved from New York to South Dakota to care for her grandfather, who had dementia and a broken hip. While there, she learned she was pregnant — in a state with a severe abortion ban that prohibits all abortions except to save the life of the mother.
In her piece for The Washington Post, Danielle tells the story of her decision to stay in a state considered hostile to reproductive freedom. Instead, she has decided to drive more than two hours to Minnesota for her OB-GYN and prenatal care — a situation more and more families may find themselves in because of abortion bans.
