Abortion Care Saved My Family. Our Story Shows Abortion Care is Pro-Life.
Synopsis
As a husband, father of three, and abortion rights advocate, University of Maryland professor Jason Nichols shared his family’s abortion story in a Newsweek op-ed. At 14 weeks, Jason and his wife learned that their long-hoped-for fourth pregnancy was no longer viable. Jason’s wife was miscarrying, and had developed an infection. Fortunately, she was able to get the care she needed at a Maryland hospital.
The medical intervention that saved Jason’s wife’s life was the same procedure used for abortions. Her abortion protected her health and their chance to grow their family in the future.
After this experience, Jason realized one thing with absolute clarity: His wife’s survival should not have depended on where they live.
“My wife is like many of you. She is the Outreach Director at her church. She is a woman who always wanted a large family. And this week, abortion-related care protected her life and the lives of any future children we may have.”
