Abortion in America
After a brain cancer diagnosis, Caroline Williams’ abortion is allowing her to live longer
Synopsis
Caroline Williams was 17 weeks pregnant with her second child when she checked herself into the hospital—she was having trouble forming words. Then, she was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.
She made the difficult decision to end the pregnancy in order to start treatment as soon as possible.
About a month later, an abortion ban took effect in Florida. Today, the state bans abortion after six weeks of pregnancy—leaving women like Caroline in potentially impossible positions.
Caroline spoke with Abortion in America in Austin, Texas to bring greater attention and awareness to the experiences of people living in states with abortion bans.
I am not alone in being a cancer patient that is diagnosed while pregnant.
