The Cut
The Mom Whose Out-of-State Abortion Allowed Her to Have a Healthy Pregnancy
Synopsis
Kailey, a West Virginia mom, learned at her 20-week ultrasound that her baby would not survive. Because state law banned abortion at that point in her pregnancy, she drove six hours to Washington, D.C. to have an abortion. Two years later, she gave birth to a healthy baby boy. In an interview with The Cut reporter April Daniels Hussar, Kailey describes how she was only able to have an eventual healthy pregnancy because she had that first abortion.
