Woman’s arrest after miscarriage in Georgia draws fear and anger

Selena miscarried 5 months into her pregnancy in rural Georgia in the spring of 2025. The 24-year-old was arrested and charged with concealing a death and abandoning a body after police said she placed the remains of her miscarriage in a dumpster. Though an autopsy confirmed she miscarried and the charges were dropped, her arrest is one of dozens being brought under abortion bans.
