Abortion in America
After abuse caused her to miscarry, Nevada doctors still made her wait for care
Synopsis
At 21 weeks pregnant, Jaynae McKenzie began miscarrying after her then-boyfriend physically abused her. She bled heavily for over a week before going to her local hospital in Nevada. But even as her condition worsened she says a doctor dismissed her concerns and delayed her care. Jaynae ultimately needed an abortion and three blood transfusions to pass the pregnancy.
Jaynae spoke with Abortion in America in Austin, Texas to bring greater attention and awareness to the experiences of people living in states with abortion bans.
