She Needed an Emergency Abortion. Doctors in Idaho Put Her on a Plane.

Synopsis

Nicole Miller, a mother in Idaho, faced a medical emergency during her third pregnancy when, at 20 weeks pregnant, she began hemorrhaging and leaking amniotic fluid in the middle of the night. Due to Idaho’s abortion ban, her doctors refused to treat her and put her on a plane to Utah despite her critical condition. It wasn’t until she woke up in Salt Lake City that Nicole learned she had an abortion to save her life. 

New York Times reporter Kate Zernike sat down with Nicole to hear her story. Nicole is not alone in her experiences — she is one of dozens of women who have been airlifted out of Idaho for life-saving abortions since Roe v. Wade was overturned.
