Nebraska Mom Gets Prison Time for Giving Daughter Abortion Pills

Synopsis

During the first summer after Roe v. Wade was overturned, people all across the country were scrambling to navigate a reality in which they had far fewer options for abortion care.

One Nebraska mother was desperate to help her 17-year-old daughter after learning the teen, who was in an abusive relationship, was pregnant and did not want to be. She went online and bought abortion pills for her daughter, who was able to safely end the pregnancy. 1 year later, the mother was sentenced to two years in prison.

The Cut reporter Andrea González-Ramírez interviews Pregnancy Justice and If/When/How, two organizations who represent people across the country who are criminalized because of pregnancy outcomes like this, about what this case means in a post-Roe America.
