Julia and her 16-year-old daughter Daniela, whose names have been changed to protect their confidentiality, recently immigrated to the United States from Venezuela.
It wasn’t until Daniela learned that she was pregnant that she learned her new home state of Florida banned abortion after six weeks. Together, she and her mother found themselves navigating a challenging legal, financial, and logistical landscape to get Daniela the care she needed.
The two spoke with Eileen Diamond, who runs an independent abortion clinic in South Florida, as part of Abortion in America’s work to bring greater attention and awareness to the experiences of people living in states with abortion bans.
