Abortion in America
She was having a miscarriage. Louisiana’s abortion ban blocked her care.
Synopsis
Tabitha Crowe was expecting her first child when she miscarried during a visit to Louisiana. Though she was bleeding heavily, local hospitals sent her home multiple times and delayed the care she needed. By the time she went to the ER in her home state of Florida, she’d lost so much blood she was turning purple. It was only because she was at a military hospital that she was able to get a D&C, a type of abortion that is a routine treatment for miscarriages.
Tabitha spoke with Abortion in America in Austin, Texas to bring greater attention and awareness to the experiences of people living in states with abortion bans.
