Abortion in America
When Tennessee banned abortion, TikTok helped Allie Phillips get the care she needed
Synopsis
A few months into Allie Phillips’ second pregnancy in 2022, a routine ultrasound showed something was wrong with her baby. Her doctor told her that continuing the pregnancy would put Allie’s life at risk. But because of Tennessee’s abortion ban, she couldn’t get the care she needed in her home state. Not knowing what else to do, Allie shared her story on TikTok. It went viral—and that changed what happened next.
Allie spoke with Abortion in America in Austin, Texas to bring greater attention and awareness to the experiences of people living in states with abortion bans.
